About Met Cycle Cop

Simon castleSimon Castle is a Police Sergeant with the Met’s Cycle Safety Team. His team is here to reduce cycle casualties through enforcement and education, including the Exchanging Places programme. Simon works on long term projects with industry and public bodies to develop better roads, routes and vehicles.

Balance.  It’s the first thing we had to learn about riding a bike.  So why is it so often missing when cycling is discussed?

I ride a bike every day and drive lorries from time to time.  As a cop, I’ve driven pursuit cars, ridden motorbikes and investigated fatal crashes.  Now, I work full time on cycle safety issues so that there might be fewer of those crashes.

I don’t pretend to have all the answers but we’ll get to those answers through listening and learning.

In this blog, I will talk about all aspects of our work. We’re probably best known for our Exchanging Places programme but there’s much more than that. In the meantime, check out our calendar and our YouTube video in the bar on the right.
